Trip report--Honalulu and Kauai

Was in Honolulu for work for four days--stayed at the HHV and was upgraded to a corner oceanfront room. Was actually quite pleased with the hotel. It had everything you needed, on the best part of the beach, staff was great. For special dining, recommend eating at Orchids and La Mer at the Halekulani hotel. House without a key (the bar at Halekulani) has great sunset drinks and music. For more casual, try Tiki Grill and Hula grill, both very good.

We flew to Kauai on Thursday and stayed at a great condo, part of the Princeville resort. Despite the rain, we loved the north shore part of the island. More natural beauty, very scenic. We had drinks at the Living Room at Princeville every night which was a great spot before sunset. We had pretty good dinners at Zelo's and Bali by the Sea.

I recommend going to the Lighthouse in the North shore--wonderful views. We drove the whole north shore, stopping at the Guava plantation, the botanical gardens. On the south shore, great snorkeling at Poipua Beach Park and a nice visit to the sprouting horn and Shipwreck beach. We missed Napali coast and the canyon, which I have been told are great. All the reason to book my next trip!

Congratulations!
You have shown the world HOW NOT to write a trip report. WHERE'S THE BEEF?

Aloha anna,

I enjoyed your brief "BEEFLESS" report ... I also enjoyed many of the same spots you did.

Mahalo for sharing the aloha.

I enjoyed your brief report also. I find the trip reports that detail every last waking moment a little obnoxious. If people want to know more, they can ask.

Nice report, thanks. Where is Bali by the Sea, do not remember seeing or reading of any place with that name when we were there last month. Do you perhaps mean Bali Hai restaurant at the Hanelei Bay Resort? Haven't been in awhile but the food was OK, service very slow about 4 years ago.

HI Anna, Thanks for the trip report. We are doing a similar trip this April. Staying at the HHV on Oahu and Marriott in Lihue, Kauai.
Bali by the Sea, isn't that at the HHV on Oahu? I haven't stayed at this hotel before, but I have eaten at a Bali by the Sea there about 12 years ago!
