Travelodge in Downtown Atlanta?
I haven't been in Atlanta for a few years, but I believe this hotel at 311 Courtland Street must be near Georgia Tech? Or am I completely off course? Is it OK? I'd appreciate any opinions. My daughter is planning on staying there and I want to be sure that's a good idea!

Define "near". The Travel Lodge is roughly 1 mile from Tech campus (Varsity end, 61 North Ave.). Convenient to I-75, close to Peachtree Center, the predominant highrise office complex in downtown Atlanta. Short distance to Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Marquis, and other upper end hotels on Peachtree St. and P'tree Center Ave. Know nothing about the hotel, though recommend that your daughter, or anyone else, refrain from a late night stroll in the area. Completely safe during the day.

I would not feel safe staying there. Yes you could walk around during the day but that does not mean until sundown -- it means till 5 or 6 when everyone goes home. It is not walking distance to GA Tech -- you might want to contact the school and see what they recommend.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean she's going to GA Tech. I was just trying to place in my mind where it was. She is going to a rock concert in Atlanta with a friend. We have both stayed in the Marriott Marquis and Hilton area (and know better than to walk around the area at night) but still can't place this Travelodge. Is it right downtown by the Hard Rock Cafe?

It's not right by the Hard Rock Cafe (HRC), which is at 215 Peachtree St. The address you gave, 311 Courtland, is a block or so north of the Hilton (255 Courtland Street). That makes it northeast of the HRC and the Marriott Marquis. If you plug the addresses into Mapquest.com you'll get a clear picture. Ignore driving directions (one-way streets), and focus on the map. It's on the penumbra of the northern fringe of the downtown business district. Not much worth seeing there, and much not to see.

Thank you, hmmm, you gave me exactly the point of reference I needed. We have stayed at the Hilton so that placed it in my mind perfectly.
Actually, now she is looking into cancelling her reservations and staying in Virginia Highlands instead as she loves that area and Little Five Points.
