Traveling 101 SF to Healdsburg, CA

We're be traveling Rt 101 from SFO to Healdsburg shortly and have heard it's under construction. Can anyone say if the delays are horrible (this would be a weekday about mid-afternoon) or if there's a feasible way to avoid it?

All over California there is road work due to the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. I have driven the entire state this summer and found it in every location I visited. I found that the vast majority occurred at night but it still affected lane availability. Caltrans reports that roadwork on 101 in the north state is in Mendocino County.
You can check roadwork:

http://www.dot.ca.gov and entere 101 in the search box.

If it's any consolation, it seems like some area of 101 between San Francisco and Healdsburg is always under construction.

To minimize traffic hassles, leave San Francisco after the morning rush hour and get through Santa Rosa before the afternoon rush hour.

Here in So Cal, they also have been working on 101. The delays have been minimal because when possible they work at night. In any event, you can check the traffic ahead of time at this site. Good idea to check a day ahead at about the time you plan to travel.

Right now it's clear sailing on the 101 to Healdsburg, but it's Labor day. However, hwy 1 through SF is slow. I wonder what that's all about.

You can get this site on a smart phone or a pad and check traffic while you're driving.

I use the LA version all the time when traveling around or through LA.

Thanks for the traffic resources. It looks as though construction may be done through Santa Rosa area.

The Santa Rosa work has been recently completed and it is a whole lot easier getting through than it was a year ago. Or for that matter, the past 10 years.

In late June, we observed VERY heavy traffic on 101 South, due to construction. We were driving north from SF to Healdsburg and it worried us b/c of the trip back to SF airport that we would be taking 2 days later. On the morning of our airport run, we left at least an hour earlier than we normally would have, and there was no backup at all!

PS I see the reply above may have made my anecdote irrelevant!
