You might like: www.ricksteves.com and www.frommer.com -- both offer something different from Fodor's. Their computer servers are much faster. Rick Steves offers a lot of good ideas about packing, places, etc. Oh, yes, there is Lonely Planet -- it's aimed at the younger crowd and is a no-hold-barred source of fun ideas and thoughts.

Another good site for general information is Excite Travel at http://city.net/. Also, check out the Rec Travel Library at http://www.Travel-Library.com/ for Travelogues. If you are looking for information about a specific location, do a search or check out Yahoo. You can find almost anything there.

I have been planning my entire trip thru the internet...I go to my interest and then search. Also, a GREAT web is lonely planet.com/ It is a bit offbeat, which I like, and you can get all kinds of info from the messages board, which is called The Thorn Tree. Good luck!

To the person with the question about Higland Inn in Carmel- we were married there 30 years ago and it is beautiful- service was great- and I can't believe no on has mentioned the Eurotrip website. This is my favorite. www.eurotrip.com. BE SURE to click on WEB LINKS on the left side of the page - this can take you to hotel, buses, trains, airlines, etc.

Forgot to mention the Gold Mine Website- the one I can remember in my head is www.travelwithkids.goldmine.com (Ithink) if not e mail me and i'll look it up in favorites. This is good for USA too! Lots of places and ideas when traveling with children. You can even e mail them as ask specific questions about food for toddlers in Europe, car seats etc.
