Travel time to San Diego??

We are coming down next week,(end of June), and staying in Anaheim for a week. One day,we are driving down to San Diego to do Sea World. Can someone tell me when we should leave Anaheim to be at Sea World when they open (9:00)?? We are going on a Friday. (I know, busy day,but thats the way it worked out). Thanks for any input!!

I would not reccomend arriving at sea
world at 9am. When we went to sea world
we did not get there until about 3pm and
stayed until about 11pm or when ever it
closed. It was less crowded, cooler and
the whale show is beautiful after dark.
They shine different colored lights on
the water and we even watched it twice
because the kids wanted to go back again
before we left! Another tip for sea world is to check prices before you decide where to eat. I would check prices at each place and I finally found
one called Joe's something, I cannot remember exactly the name but it was the
best bite for your buck.

if you want to be there for 9:00, i'd leave anaheim around 6:30-7:00. it usually takes me 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 hours. i'd recommend getting there for 9:00 in order to give you the most options. the shamu show is very good and i would plan on seeing it at least twice. you need to get to the exhibit about 40 minutes before the show starts to get a good seat. so buy and ice cream or popcorn and plan on sitting a relaxing for abit. there is a beach very close by - mission beach. i'd plan on spending the morning/early afternoon at sea world, leave the park and go have lunch at mission beach (or pacific beach down the road has more nice sit down restaurants). bring your towells and enjoy an hour or two on the beach. then head back to sea world for the late afternoon/evening.
or, if you just plan on staying the day and heading "home" early evening, plan on pulling over at laguna beach for supper. nice little town to stop at on the way to anaheim.

Stop in Oceanside on the way back at Rockin’ Baja Lobster, famous for its “bucket of lobster and a Corona”.

the traffic coming down from anaheim on friday morning to make the opening is enough to spoil your vacation. you would have to leave at 0630 for a two and 1/2 to three hour drive that would normally take about an hour and fifteen minutes. I'd leave anaheim later (11 am) and leave Sea World after 8 pm. Sea World has a good fireworks show at 9:45 everynight in the summer.
