Travel plans for the holiday weekend?

Wondering what everyone's planning for the upcoming Labor Day weekend...

DH has to work, but I am going camping with friends & pup near the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears, MI. I am tired of unpacking moving boxes and really looking forward to enjoying the outdoors and swimming in Lake Michigan.

What are you doing?

We had our hearts set on a weekend down at the Jersey shore. We are very close to canceling out due to rain, clouds etc. Such a dissapointment. Instead I have a painting project I am about to consider starting instead. I hope where everyone else lives has a better weekend in store those of us in the Northeast!! Thanks Ernesto!!

Thanks, Loveitaly. Watch out for crazy drivers in SF! What a mess!

Diann - hope you don't have to cancel your weekend plans. Spending a relaxing weekend, even in the rain, sounds better than painting!

No travel plans unless you count crossing the river over to a different state ( 30 min) for a family birthday.

I will be mostly concentrating on my parents 50th Anniversary party... small and intimate but should be lots of fun!!
It is going to be chilly here - very strange since it has been in the high 90's lately. CANT WAIT!!

I am hiking in Silver Falls State Park- east of Salem Oregon. Its a beautiful hike I have done many times - 10 waterfalls in a very small area - some of the trails take you behind the falls.

Also planning a bike ride on the Row River Trail close to Cottage Grove Or.
If you remember the movie "Stand by Me"
and the scenes of the trestle bridge and railroad track - this is where it was filmed. Its a Rails to Trails project and a great ride . Weather looks to be close to perfect

That should do it for the weekend- gotta stay home at least 1 day to do some work

I traveled to a fan specialty store in Huntington Beach CA this past Monday to buy a ceiling fan. The cost of said fan was so high that we will only be traveling between the circuit breaker box outside, our tool collection in the garage and the bedroom where we will be installing the fan. And probably traveling to Lowe's, since these home projects invariably involve tools or supplies we don't have on hand.

We'll then travel out to our newly-fixed pool and enjoy the hot days and cool water.

Then we might travel to our new favorite Vietnamese Bistro a mile away: Benley, at Wardlow and Norwalk in east Long Beach. Glamor and excitement and exotic food!

I'm staying put! Some family issues to resolve...

Doesn't matter, the week after that I'll be in Chicago, sipping wine at Hancock after a river cruise!

saps: Congratulations and thanks for rubbing it in!!

I almost forgot: We have six new windows to install-- and yes, we'll be doing it ourselves over the next few weekends. Before a business trip takes us to Philadelphia (and a quick visit with my mom and my sister and her family).

Having a party for my 21 year old son who is getting back from a year of school in Japan. I pick him up at O'Hare tomorrow. I can't wait. Just a cook out in the yard with family and some of his friends. Only about 20-21 people.

Congrats on the wedding - the honeymoom, it sounds lovely.

For everyone going on a trip, have fun and be safe.

Everyone else - have a great weekend!!

Oh wait, it's only Wednesday. Sigh

I'm off to MI for 4 plus days and nights and this time I'll have LOTS of people coming and going but not staying overnight. How delightful.

Regardless of the weather, and I think it will be ok- I'm going to be in the water and wet.

saps, WONDERFUL life to you and your new spouse. Positano is fab.

travel addict, I hope the weather is good for us. To everyone else, we have just gone through 3 solid days of rain. It's like a lagoon here everywhere you look.

Faina, that means September will be golden and great as usual.

Drive carefully and have a great time, even if you are at home- everyone. Sometimes home IS the best place to be.

rjw, I feel for you and the windows. I'm having 24 windows replaced in a 6 year old home. I found a flaw on the seals and they are replacing them all. BUT WE HAVE TO STAIN THEM.

It's always something as Rosanna Rosanna Danna said.

Best wishes SAP's, may you two have a very long and happy life together! And I know you will have a beautiful honeymoon. Enjoy every precious moment.

travel_addict, I had just warned my friends the other day who will be in SF to be careful walking in SF as so many pedestrians get hit by vehicles but I never in my wildest imagination that somebody would run into people on purpose! It breaks my heart for all of the victims and their loved ones.

I'll be on the beach with trashy novels all weekend long except for the time it takes me to run my 16 miles either Friday night or Saturday morning. I haven't decided yet.

Next week my vacation starts.

Mr.GoTravel and I are just going to hit the road and see where life takes us!

I am staying home Why did I tell DD that she could have all her girlfriends over for one last sleepover of the summer??? DH and DS are jumping ship (can't blame them) and will be hiking the South Sister. I am so envious...I love that hike.

Sunbum--I love that hike too! Enjoy it for me since I am homebound with a bunch of teen girls, ok?

We had originally planned to stay home for the weekend and had a trip to Miami planned for this week. Ernesto caused us to delay the trip and now we are leaving Sunday and coming back the end of next week. I hate driving and we had tix on United to fly down from Tampa. Fortunately, United allowed us a "waiver" because of the storm and so there were no cancellation fees. Unfortunately, the Biltmore (where we are staying) didn't have a similar policy and since it was prepaid we did have to forfeit one night's room cost.
Since our only other trip this summer had to be cancelled because of an extremely ill pup (better now happily) we are really looking forward to a relaxing, warm and dry "mini-vacation" through the Labor Day weekend and week ahead.
