Leaving Saturday to take DD back to school. She has to be there Monday which just happens to be her 21st birthday! We'll stay until Wed AM and then won't see her again until Thanksgiving.

However, as much as I hate to leave her, I'm looking forward to the trip itself. Once we get to the eastern part of Ohio, it's a very pretty drive. And it's our last hurrah of the summer.
Also, we're stopping overnight in Syracuse on the way back so that DS can take the tour of Syracuse University. While we're there we're getting together with friends; one couple from our days living in Syracuse and a friend from home who has since moved there. We're meeting for dinner at Dinosaur BBQ. After all the good things I've read about it on Fodor's, I finally get to try it!

Looks like another busy travel weekend! Safe and happy travels to everyone, and to those staying home, be thankful you won't get stuck in traffic. Although, mms, I wouldn't trade places with you for anything!
And JJ5 - it'll be gorgeous in Michigan this weekend, I promise.

We will only travel to our YMCA pool on this Labor Day weekend, and have a couple of picnics with a friend, BUT on Tuesday the 5th, we leave for a three week vacation at Lady Lake, Sanibel Island, and Indian Shores Beach in Florida.
Saps, have a wonderful wedding and a wonderful life, and a fab honeymoon!
annesherrod, congrats to your parents. 50 years is a great achievement!
GoT, run, run, run!
Happy Labor Day weekend to all!

travel,
You've got courage. I HATE being in the Michigan week-end traffic, especially on a holiday week-end. DH, DD and I will relax around home with some dips in the pool.
Safe travels to all who are on the move this week-end.

Saturday morning is my turn to work the volunteer desk in ER at the hospital, and Monday morning is my regular weekly scheduled day.
That's ok tho, next week we go up to Groton and Mystic, CT and the following week down to Baton Rouge. Being retired does have its benefits.

SuzieTrue,
We get through the I-80-94 from Chicago to Cass County, MI and know ALL the ways around the worst bottlenecks, regardless of where they form. We also travel at night and often stop for late dinner in various places, and don't think we have duplicated in a couple of years.
We are actually getting to enjoy the ride and do it with an interested cockatiel too. But then again almost everything in life is relative. You should see the traffic in our own town circa 2006. We laugh so hard about this, because for our parents that kind of traffic was not even a reality at State & Madison in Chicago. It now takes us about 25 minutes just to get to the other end of my town. Sometimes the city comes to you, you don't go to the city.
