Travel from Newark to Manhatten

Hi can anyone give me advice. My mum 3 sisters and myself arrive into Newark Fri 17th Feb. As this is to celebrate my mums 70th birthday (plus none of us ever visited NY before) I want to book a limo from the airport into Manhatten. 7th ave and 53rd is our destinaion. I sent off for a few quotes and 2 replied with a price of 185 and 210. Is this reasonable. If anyone can recommend a company I would be grateful. Also we do our immigration this side rather than in the states so there should be no delays on landing.

Something round $185 to $195 is the norm. Prices may have gone up in recent weeks due to the high price of gasoline.

I've had good service from Farrell's Limo Service (212-861-6300). I've also used Empire Transport (it's actully a Limo Multiple listing service) with no problems. You can get an on-line quote from them at: wwww.empire-int.com

I have used this service four times:

ScalaLimousines
Phone: 516-652-8544
Email: [email protected]

They have new towncars and cost about 45.00 from LaGuardia to MidTown.
You would have to inquire about the Limos and prices. But the owner of this company is also a driver... it is a family company and they just have a totally different feel than the contracted drivers.
100% of his customers are repeat customers or referrals.

I don't understand your statement 'we do our immigration this side rather than in the states so there should be no delays on landing'. This will depend on the number of overseas flights and visitors arriving at the same time as you. Others on this board may know how quickly the lines move at Newark.

Sorry I can't help you with your limo question. Hope you all love NYC. What a great place to celebrate your mum's 70th birthday.

Please post a trip report as to how it all worked out.

For the 3 of you you could just take a taxi. I think it would be about $60 plus tip and tolls.

I would suggest one of the service car companies rather than a limo. The service cars are nicer than cabs and will cost just about the same. Try googleing service cars in NYC since several have websites you can get quotes and make reservations. Once you get here, they give you a phone number to call and your car will be waiting outside.

Televiv is the service I have used several times and they have always been ontime and reliable.

Let us know if you have any other questions about the city and we all hope you have a great time while you are here.

I believe the OP is flying in from Ireland, and yes they can clear US Immigration there, before the flight. They still need to collect bags and then clear customs, and EWR is infamous for not having enough gates that connect to the immigration/customs area in the afternoon.

However, CO's flights from DUB or SNN arrive around 11:30am, ahead of almost all other international flights. So, that's really not a problem.

rkkwan - thanks for clearing that up regarding immigration when leaving from Ireland. That certainly does make a difference.
