JFK Car Service

This may be an old question, but I'm needing current information regarding car service from JFK to Manhattan (i.e. Lincoln Town Cars etc). I've used taxi service in the past, but since this is my sisters 1st time in New York, I wanted to do something special for her. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I just returned from NYC and used a company for the first time for Town Car service:

ScalaLimousines
Phone: 516-652-8544
Email: [email protected]

The guy was really nice and accomodating, waiting at the a/p when we arrived.
We used Scala 2 more times during the trip and it was always the same driver so I assume he must be an owner/operator.
He took Amex, too... which is always a plus for me!
Since we did not fly into JFK, you would have to email for a quote.
From LGA to Midtown ran us 45.00 flat because we did not use the tollroad.
Loved it... so much nicer than a cab!

Thanks TxTravelPro. I'll give them a try. I agree, being able to use AMEX is always a plus.

GLD, your timing is perfect - thanks for asking the question - I'm coming to NYC next month for my first visit too and had the same idea.

TxTravelPro - I have just e-mailed Scalalimo to ask for a quote JFK-Chelsea. Will post the response, might be useful to others.

www.carmellimo.com

Book online; it works & you'll receive a confirmation e-mail.

Should be no more than $45 from JFK to Manhattan.

How much from LGA to downtown Manhattan (Ritz Carlton Battery Park)? I'd rather book a car service than line up for a taxi. Last time I was there the lineup was really long.

It depends on the car service antlori. It also depends on whether you want meet and greet (they stand inside with a card with your name on) or the basic phone when you arrive. All the car services has price quotes on their websites from LGA to anywhere in Manhattan.

Fixeed taxi from JFK to Manhatan is $45 plus toll and tip. The basic car services (a full-size sedan) set there fees the same - unless you ask them to wait for your flight - then they'll add waiting time.

However, someone above was asking about a limo - that will be distinctly more than a regular sedan - and you need to negotiate a price before booking.

I just had a quote from Scalalimo of $65US including tolls for JFK to Manhattan, so I guess this probably is around the same as $45+ tolls (?).

No - the cab - with toll and a nice tip is more in the neighborhood of $57 to $60. So they're actually chaging you a little more.

But is this for a plain sedan - or a real limo (stretch Caddy or Mercedes with TV, bar etc) - the latter are always more than a sedan.

There are other car services (regular sedans thought) that will charge less: Carmel, Tel Aviv etc.

Thanks for all who posted. I should have been more clear as to the type of info I needed. I was hoping to find out more about good/bad experiences with the various companies. It seems the rates are about the same for Town Car type service. And thanks to you Bokhara for getting the rate info for Scala Limousines.

Thanks NYtraveler - I'm happy with a normal sized car, being one of those odd folk who think stretch limos are absolutely the last gasp in gauche unless there are too many passengers to fit in a regular sized vehicle (LOL)
