travel by train

I would like to travel by trains for about 6-8 days with my husband from NYC to any location that is beautiful without having to travel much during stops. I prefer to travel north.

anyone did this ? any suggestions?

thanks

Well you can take the train to Canada - but can't imagine what you would do for so many days. Train routes are distinctly limited, and while you can get pretty scenery between cites, you can also get the back ends of a lot of small towns.

Some friend of mine took a several day trip across Canada and through the Rockies - but I think that was only 3 days (they stopped various places along the way). that scenery should be beautiful.

Check this web site - www.seat61.com

It has info on various train trips all over the world including US and Canada. Should have several options for you.

The California Zephyr is very scenic, but not until Denver. When you say you want to travel for 6-8 days, I assume that you intend to get off for overnight stops along the route. Denver would be a good stop, as would Winter Park. There is also a train that goes thru Las Vegas. You could take that one, and stop for a day or two.

Just suggestions...

madi- Well, "north" from NYC is either the 'New England' states or Canada. Montreal maybe?

California is not north (lol)
