Travel Books: Daytrips from "XYZ"
Some time ago, I ran into a series of wonderful books that I would like to try to find again. As I remember, they were written by a husband and wife team. They were all titled something like: Daytrips from ____(fill in the blank). The one that I enjoyed was about trips from LA. I used it when I planned our trip to CA. I know there was one of daytrips in the Wash DC area, but would like to know if there are others. Yes...they are old and probably out of print.

Well... Robert & Patricia Foulke have a couple of books in the "Daytrips and getaway weekends" series--is that what you're thinking of? Not sure there's one for the DC area.
How about "Quick Escapes Washington, D.C.: 24 Weekend Getaways from the Nation's Capital" and the Fodor's "Where to Weekend Around Washington D.C".
I find that a lot of the "weekend" books (for NYC , for example" list stuff that can easily be done as a day trip

I had one of those . . .daytrips from New Orleans. I loaned it out and never got it back. I'd love to have it back again. Please post back, Pollyvw, if you find out if they're still available. BTW, how's the trip planning for WVa coming along?
