Any help?? I would appreciate if anybody can tell me if there is a company as in paris (parisconnection) they pick you up at the hotel -shared van, not full...and drive you to the airport. Thanks again......

There are but they are widely scorned by NY'ers. You never who they are picking up where and how long the trip will take.

There is SuperShuttle - but it is extremely unreliable. There are many reports of them not making pick ups at all or picking up passengers and then driving around Manhattan for an hour or more picking up passengers at other hotels - at times taking so long that passengers have missed their flights. Use this service at your own risk.

For reliable transit to the airport you have several options"

Car service you call and arrange in advance (will be about $60 including bridge or tunnel toll and 20% tip) - Dial 7 and Carmel are perfectly reliable

Taking a cab to one of the central places (Grand Central etc) and taking an airport bus. this will save money for one person but for two will cost not much less than a car service.

Public transit - if you don;t mind schlepping you luggage up and down stairs - there are several options, depending on where your hotel is,

We just make that run last week to East Village and then back to JFK from mid-town via public transit and it was fine as long as comfortable making a couple of train changes and handling your luggage. If that is out of the question, then a private car is a good option.

Shared van services in NYC just don't work, and I don't know why. They work almost everywhere else in the country. SuperShuttle is one company, Grayline another. There are many such companies in NYC. But the Airtrain and Long Island Railroad combo is the best way to get to the airport from many locations in Manhattan. Where you are staying does make a difference in your choice of transportation. Where are you staying? If near Penn Station, then the Airtrain your absolute best choice. If on the east side, then a shared van service might be better.
