Transportation from Anchorage to Seattle
We are cruising on HAL in May 08 w/RT air from DFW to Seattle, we are taking the Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver BC. We will depart in Seward and take the train to Anchorage, what is the best way to get back to Seattle from Anchorage?
Thank you for your help.

I guess you could take the Alaska highway down if you had enough time. Alternatively, there are multiple flights per day from ANC-SEA on Alaska Airlines (and others). Continental used to have a pretty good fair for the red-eye.

Okie1234,
We are also looking at Alaska cruises, and I am inerested in your arrangements from Seattle to Vancouver. Could you direct me to a helpful link? Seems like the better cruise itineraries leave from Vancouver, but we have free tickets into Seattle.

To the above:
www.amtrak.com
To the OP:
Why not do an open jaw?
DFW-SEA
ANC-DFW
Call the airline. It's quite possible that changing the ticket may be the best option. At this point the change fee/fare adjustment may be less than if you were to purchase ANC-SEA ticket. Just a suggestion.

Your options for transfers Seattle/Vancouver are- Amtrak, cruiseline contracted buses, independent bus- Quick Shuttle, and one way rental cars- I've used Alamo, Avis, Budget and National, there is also Hertz. When reserving you want downtown Vancouver not the airport. Allow AT LEAST 4 hours and probably more will be needed, if you are short on time.

Sludick,
From Seattle we are taking the Amtrak to Vancouver about a 4 hr train ride, My FIL loves trains. I went to www.amtrak.com and booked straight through them.
After doing some research on www.doublediamonddestinations.com I found open jaw from DFW to SEA and ANC to DFW for $462 pp.
Thanks everyone for the great info, yall are the best.

The OP is taking the train from Seattle to Vancouver.
The openjaw alternative is the cheapest; DFW-SEA//ANC-DFW is around $80 more than DFW-SEA-DFW. The cheapest one-way ANC-SEA fare most days is around $200. Continental's flight leaves ANC around 5 PM and gets into SEA around 9:30, or there are numerous Alaska flights for around $100 more.
However, perhaps the OP wants to return to Seattle for some other reason.

The reason I said to make sure about the train is because Amtrak operates busses on this route and when you are making reservations it can be easy to pick a later departure without noticing it's a bus.
I believe the OP just confirmed the open jaw.
