Tower Theatre

Plan on attending a concert at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia. Flying in the morning of the show. Would it be easier to use cabs/SEPTA or rent a car? Where would be the best place to stay? We just did a family vacation to Philadelphia, so leaving the next morning. Thank you.

Haven't been to the Tower (which is actually in Upper Darby) in a while, but I'm guessing Septa is the way to go because the theater is close to the 69th st. station.

Can't help with hotels in that area, but if you're just doing a quick in-and-out, maybe you'll want to stay at an airport hotel. That way, you can go back to your hotel after the show and be there to catch your plane without any hassles.

Hi PSCSB

You really don't want to stay in Upper Darby near the Tower. Select a hotel in Center City Philadelphia and you can take the Broad Street Line to 69th Street. If you go to the Septa website they'll have maps of the lines.

I agree with buongiorno. Upper Darby is NOT the place to stay. It has really gone downhill over the past few decades, and getting worse. I used to hop the trolley and shop there all day when I was a teenager. I don't feel comfortable there now. However, as another poster mentioned, if you take Septa, the Tower Theatre is just minutes away walking distance from the bus/trolley depot.

Thank you for the replies. Thinking about staying out towards Norristown and taking the trolley (Route 100) to the Tower Theatre. Looks like the trolley goes till 11 pm. Need to be in Allentown the next morning that is why not staying in downtown. Would this be a safe and easy way to do it? Thank you.

Growing up in the burbs of Philly, we used to take the 100 to concerts at the Tower. The best place to stay if you're going to do that will be Plymouth Meeting (there aren't really any hotels in Norristown that you would want to stay at) which is a 10 minute ride to the train station in downtown Norristown. You will then have an easy time the next morning to go to Allentown because the entrance to the PA Turnpike is right there in PM. Allentown is at about mile marker 56 so it will take you about 35-40 minuted exit to exit.
