Top of the Rock when Cloudy?

Looks like my trip the next five days to NYC is going to cloudy and rainy. Is it worth paying the money and taking the time to go to the "top of the Rock" in this kind of weather?

If it's really cloudy, I'd say "no". You can wait to see what the weather is like while you are there. Head over if the skies start to clear. I'd be surprised if it would be cloudy all the time for 5 days.

I just looked a weather.com. Saturday has a 70% chance of rain but the other days range between 10% and 40%.

I'm imagining a scene, facing in the direction of lower Manhattan, with the Empire State Building and maybe others poking up through low-lying clouds. Yeah, I think I'd spend the money. Maybe not if it's raining though.

I don;t think they're talking about heavy rain the whole time - in fact the weather just on showed some sun and clouds. the benefit of ToTR s you can go any time - no waiting - so head over there when you have break in the clouds. (And you'll still see everything if it's cloudy -just not so pretty.

Sorry - the clouds are not THAT low that they block the buildings - you have to be more alp height for that. but rain will block your view.

I think I've actually seen a photograph of that scene, nytraveler. Regardless, we're all in agreement that the ToTR's worth the money, even when the weather's not perfect.

Don't be so sure about no waiting on weekends. We walked through Rockefeller Center around noon on Sunday and the two lines by the skating rink for buying tickets to TOTR had about 25-30 people in each line. Obviously, the word is spreading.
