Too late for Thanksgiving in NYC?

Hi all! Hubby and I have been thinking about going to NYC the day before Thanksgiving and staying until Sunday. We'd like to take in the parade as well as Broadway shows, etc... We have never been to NYC and know nothing about it. I was just wondering if it's too late to hope to get a nice room in a good location for that weekend? And will there be any hope of getting tickets to the Rockettes Christmas Show? I am assuming that is one of the busiest times in NYC. Thanks!

No, it is not too late. Start by finding and booking hotel room and play tickets right now then look for airfare and hotel discounts. You can always cancel your original hotel reservation if you find something better and if you can't find another hotel with a vacancy, you'll have a reservation.

Adding to the good advice you've already received, get your theater tickets soon. That is a busy weekend for Broadway.

Getting a hotel should not be a problem. Getting a hotel where you can view the parade from the hotel room is another story. Tickets for the Christmas show should be ordered as soon as possible. Hotels that are on the parade route: Mayflower, Amertania, Best Western Woodard, Novatel, W Times Square, Crowne Plaza, Mariott MArquis and Doubletree and Renaissance
Some hotels less than one block from parade route: Casablanca, Broadway Millenium, President, Paramount, Broadway Inn, Hilton Times Square, Muse, Sheraton Manhattan, and Sheraton New Yorh Hotel.

Kim, there are still VIP tickets available for the Rockettes Christmas show if you go on Wednesday or Thursdsay...they're $130.70 total (per ticket) and they're located in the orchestra section and usually in the center...other seats are available also through Ticketmaster and they have a website...if you're looking for a nice Thanksgiving Dinner the restaurant in the Righya Royal Hotel serves a nice (early) buffet or a sit down dinner later on...Chelsea Bistro on West 23rd Street and Cafe Bondi have been open in the past also.
