Tolls in NJ

On the Garden State Pkwy, the tolls are every 50 ft. on the Turnpike, you get a ticket and pay the total once when you get off at the Delaware Memorial Bridge. If you take the GW, you will most likely head right for the turnpike, if you take the Tappan Zee, you'll take the parkway for a while until they cross and then switch to the turnpike.

That's OK, Dennis, Delaware is only 100 feet wide anyway
The tolls from NYC to DC ran me about $25 round trip(some tolls like the George washington Bridge are in one direction only) using I-95 and the NJ Turnpike all the way. I think the turnpike maximum is $4.50 and you only pay once(in each direction that is) not several times along the way as with the Garden State Parkway.
From NYC to RI (depending on exact route) there aren't many tolls -- a short strip of I-95 near the NY/CT border has a $1 toll eastbound only, for example

Wow, is this one loaded with bad information!
Yes, the Garden State Parkway had plenty of tolls, not exactly every 50 feet but it seems that way. But you shouldn't take this road anyway, which runs along the east coast of NJ. You'll be taking the NJ Turnpike. You'll pick up a ticket when you enter and pay one time, when you exit. Don't know what the cost is these days but there's probably a website that'll let you know.

You will take the GS Parkway until the "woodbridge" exchange with the Turnpike, at which point you get a "ticket" for the trip on the Turnpike.
I grew up in NJ and last week we made a trip from Boston to Washington, DC. For the 30 years that I have been driving people have been complaining about the frequent tolls on the northern part of the GS Parkway. It does seem like they are every 50 feet, and the 35cents is somehow more annoying than 25 or even 50 cents.
After you pay the amount on the Turnpike ticket you have to pay a few million dollars to go over the bridge in Delaware.
But Massachusetts just raised Turnpike tolls - I paid a dollar to go about 5 miles the other day.
