Three Nights in Hana
My husband and I are staying 3 nights at a cottage in Hana in January (Ekena Maui). I hear there are only 2 restaurants in Hana- a VERY expensive one with okay food, and then a moderately priced one that has mediocre food. SO, I am thinking that we will buy some groceries and cook out for most of our meals, since a grill and full kitchen is provided. Any suggestions on what to make for lunches, dinners? It's our honeymoon, so I don't want to spend forever cooking! Thanks for the tips!

This site lists several restarants for the Hana area. Also some good maps.

The folks who own the place you are renting, should be able (and happy) to give you some advice about food.
There's only one grocery store in Hana (Hasegawa General Store) and even though I live on Kaua`i, I found the prices to be sky high there. That's what a retailer can do, when they're the only grocery store for miles and miles! 8-)

There is a take out window at Hana Ranch that has good food. Also one across from the park at Hana Bay that is OK for lunch. I'd splurge on one meal at the hotel. Call first and find out if there is free entertainment on any of the nights you're there.
Look forward to your report when you return.

Actually there are 2 grocery stores in Hana - both of them veyr small, pitifully stocked and with sky-high prices. If you plan to cook, bring your own food!
Also, we thought the snakc bar at the Hana Bay park had terrible food.
