Things to do in Santa Barbara area?
Hi there:
Any recommendations on things to do in the SB and outlying areas? What wineries are worth visiting? How about Solvang?
Any suggestions, advise and recommendations appreciated.
Thank you.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I think I just posted to your other message above.
Yes, by all means go see Solvang. We were just there last weekend. Naturally, a big tourist spot, but always fun to visit. I have been there many times before, but always make it a point to visit each time we are in the area. An array of shops, restaurants, bakeries, etc. Our choice for eats (breakfast, lunch or dinner) is "Bit of Denmark" which specializes in Danish and American cuisine, located right on Alisal Rd/Hwy 246. Across the street is a great bakery (if you like sweets) adjacent to a free parking lot. Don't miss. There are wineries in and around the area which I haven't visited.
Enjoy.

It's been a few years since we visited Solvang but I enjoyed it. The Hans Christian Anderson museum is fun if you're a fan of children's literature.
I also remember visiting an ostrich farm near Solvang. Is that still there? ***kim***

Shane!! You know that no one over the age of 14 is allowed in Neverland (well, except for a certain soprano-voiced, middle-aged, ghostly waif-man)...!
I'm not a huge Solvang fan, but it can be a nice stop (stretch the legs, get some baked goodies) on the way to other places, like San Luis Obispo or the Santa Ynez Valley wineries. SLO has a nice historic mission and it's just a nice town overall-- might be worth a trip up.
