The Producers - Heads Up on Great Seats!

Went on to telecharge.com this past Tuesday and snagged a couple of 3rd row, dead center seats for this afternoon's matinee. Needless to say the show was great, but I was suprised to see how easy it is to get great seats, if you are not dead set on a particular date. Just check for seats use the "any available performance" option and it allows you to scroll forward starting with the current date, until you find something you like. There seemed to be available seats for several performances this week and many were the "Broadway Circle" seats which go for $480 per seat if you call for a specific date.

I just checked and there are 2 great seats, 4th row center for this comming Wed. matinee.

Just thought I would give everyone a heads up.

Hey x, do you really think "The Producers" needs someone to plug their sold out show on the Fodors forum?

You caught me, Mel Brooks gives me $10 for each referral. Get a life.

I was suprised I was able to get such great seats on short notice and thought I would pass the info on to others in case they were interested. I guess you're not.

Actually, the Times reviewed the performance with the two new leads and said that it was just not up to par with Lane and Broderick.
Because of that, they expected ticket sales to ease up.

The Producers is on the fast track to mediocrity.
That's why the seats are available.
Sure the writing is great.
But c'mon...get real...Lane and Broderick (Lane mostly) made it the biggest Tony winner ever. Period.

Now it's just another good show, but not worth a premium.
The fervor is gone because it's no longer the show it once was.

That Times review was definitely underwhelming, and did point out that those $480 seats might not be the way to go. But unless all the actors sleepwalk through their parts, I doubt it'll soon be mediocre.

The gloom and doom comments about The Producers border on the laughable. True, Lane and Broderick were great in the show and no others will probably ever match their performances.
But, without them, it's no doubt still an outstanding show. And from reports from friends who have seen it since the star duo left, it's far from on the road to medocrity!
No, it may not be worth $480 (it probably never was!), but it's worth $100!

I guess the point of my original post was that $480 seats are now regularly available on Telecharge for $100 if you are flexible on dates and can go on short notice.

Not having seen the original stars, I can tell you the current cast puts on a hell of a show, one of the most entertaining evenings currently on Broadway. The great seats sure added to the enjoyment of the show.

The way I read the NY Times most current review was that yes, the original stars were better, but The Producers is still one of the best 2 shows (Lion King the other) currently on Broadway. Based on that, I would agree that if you didn't see the original cast you won't miss them and most likely will think that the show is great.

P.S. Someone sitting in the row in front of us had seen the original cast and said she thoroughly enjoyed the show the second time around.
