The Hamptons

I am celebrating my 30th birthday and would like to take a trip out to the Hamptons for the weekend. BUT, I don't know where to go, where to stay, etc. I am looking to spend some time on the beach and spend some time in the bars at night, but I want to go where there are lots of people. Anyone have any ideas?

You can start by going up to the top of the page, click destination, find Hamptons and do some reading. Depending on when, your options may be limited based on availability and price. There are tons of people every weekend. Whether you have a car will make some difference in where you stay.

There are a group of motels http://www.hrhresorts.com/

that have clubs right on premise I think. The Bentley is across from a beach. The other 2 are on the main highway so if you don't have a car, not good for getting to the beach.

If you want to be right on the beach, there are a few choices in East Hampton and many choices in Montauk.

Just be aware that for summer weekends many places have 2 or 3 night minimums - otherwise they only take fill in reservations at the last moment.

Just passed the Capri (one of the group I mentioned above) and they seem to be in a big construction. It looks like a sand pit. Don't pick that one!

If you post back with a budget and whether you intend on having a car we can give you more suggestions.

Check out the hotels in amaganset, expensive but right on the beach.Close to Cyrils which gets a cool young happy hour crowd.I always wondered why but it does,Pacific east is a great spot for dinner and drinks and also has a very attractive crowd around your age. They also have the talk house that gets ayoung crowd but has great music with live name bands. Some hotels in amaganset are hermitage,Seacrest Driftwood,Ocean colony. All of these are nice for the hamptons. For budget right on that strip is Ocean Vista which is right on the beach also.If you wanted an Ocean View The Driftwood and the panoramic in montauk which is just 2 miles from amaganset is a great choice. Also you should have a car.In sag Harbor there are a few clubs, roccos,B.Smiths for happy hour,Jean luc for dinner and drinks are fun but may have an older crowd,There is a bar down the road from Jean Luc on Montauk Highway that is alot of fun Saracen is fun but older,The Star room is supposed to be hot this year.It was a gay club but i am not sure whats happening this year. I rec. you stay in Amaganset or Easthampton near the beach so you can enjoy the beach. It can be a hassel if you do not have abeach or parking pass.Hope this helps.Happy Birthday
