The Graduate

Will be in New York in mid April and am considering getting tickets for The Graduate. Has anyone seen it? What did you think?

I have not seen it, but the advance word has been negative! So, I'll probably not see it!

Very good cast and well acted. Saw the show in Toronto, Canada, same cast will be in NYC. Show was still being fine tuned for NYC opening, runs a little long. Sets are very basic but thats all that is required. Needs to be in small theater for best effect.

Jason Biggs is wonderful. The set is wonderful. The lighting is mediocre when it should be wonderful. Kathleen Turner is mediocre, when she should be wonderful. The lack of direction is less than wonderful. And Alicia, she never had a chance at being wonderful in this role, it is simply beyond her.
$80 a ticket---go have a nice dinner.

I saw it in Boston last week. I tend to agree with the others, but I did think Turner did a fine job. With all the other choices in NYC, I'd put this show towards the bottom of my list.

I also saw the Graduate in Boston last week. Jason Biggs was excellent almost as good as I remember seeing Dustin Hoffman in the movie years ago. Kathleen Turner was very good also. As for Alicia Silverstone she was very dull and not worth a second glance after seeing Mrs. Robinson.

I was lucky enough to get opening night tickets to The Graduate in New York. I actually enjoyed it. The cast was very good, and I thought both Turner and Biggs were excellent. I must be one of the few people that has never seen the movie, however. Everyone that I went with felt the Broadway show did not compare to the movie. All in all I would give it a 7/10.

It opened last night, and the critics really panned it!

I saw the show 3/24 in NYC and it was excellent. Kathleen Turner and Jason Biggs are wonderful. Alicia Silverstone however is awful. There has to be someone else more suited for this role. Even though Alicia Silverstone does not seem ready for Broadway, what she lacks, Kathleen Turner and Jason Biggs MORE THAN make up for. Everyone walking out of the play had nothing but great reviews for it. I highly recommend it.

I saw the show in London with Jerry Hall and found it boring. Doesn't compare to the movie.

I don't know how much you rely on the opinions of the critics, but Clive Barnes panned it today in the New York Post...he gave it half a star.

Merilee, that's not a good sign for the show. Clive Barnes usually likes everything!

NY Times calls it a weary new comedy. The only thing that'll keep it open for a week or so is the opportunity to see Kathleen Turner stark naked for 20 seconds or so. With a ticket price of $76.00, that's a steep price to pay to see Mrs. Robinson in full frontal nudity.

I saw the show in previews on 3/20. Much to my amazement (let's face it, "American Pie" didn't require many acting skills), Jason Biggs was the best one in the show.

I thought it was pretty good but nothing I'd rave about. The other three in my party felt the same way. I don't regret the $70 ticket, though, as it was fun.
