Hi everyone, My partner and I will be in Manhattan from 11/25 to 11/29. We have some plans, including trying to take in the Macy's parade, but we'd like some suggestions for eating on Thanksgiving (not too fancy or too pricey). Also, I haven't checked, but I am assuming that all of the museums are closed on T-day, but if you know otherwise, let me know!

What do you want to eat on T'day? Traditional turkey dinner or something else?

You might try Fraunces Tavern down in the Wall St. area. The restaurant has quite a nice museum on the top floor.

Make reservations early if you want a traditional dinner. Restaurants will have specific seating times and usually fixed price meals - and fill up early.

Fraunces Tavern is historic and interesting and the food is fine - if not great. But there are a lot of other choices. Menupages.com also will have a list of places with a Thanksgiving dinner.

Be sure to see the balloons blows up the night before in the park next to the Museum of Nat'l History - but also be aware there will be MOBS - as there will for the parade (about a million viewers along the line of march).

How much do you want to pay? Many restaurants have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I ate at Artisinal last year for about $60 per person (we also got a good bottle of wine for a good price). It was not a cheap meal, but it was great, and not too fancy. But it was certainly a splurge.

Almost every local neighborhood restaurant will serve a Thanksgiving dinner for about $30 or less per person. For example, Benjamin, a little restaurant in my neighborhood, always serves Thanksgiving dinner, and it's usually quite good.

You do need to make reservations, but if you don't want to go to a top restaurant, then a week or so in advance is plenty of time. I booked at Artisinal about 2 weeks in advance last year, and it's a fairly popular. But I wanted to eat early.

For the last few years my husband and I have used Open Table to make our Thanksgiving Dinner reservations. They usually put out a list of places doing a price fix menu and we pick from there. We've gone to Nero & Cercle Rouge and were really happy with them both. By dinner time the crowds seemed to have gone away, plus both restaurants are away from the business of the city.
