Thailand coup - is it safe now?

Hi there - does anyone know how safe Thailand is now? After the coup? Any experiences, positive or negative? Thanks very much in advance for any info that you may provide...appreciate the help!

From our Aussie perspective, Thailand is as safe as ever, since the coup has been peacefully resolved. A friend who lives in Chiang Mai said that there was a "festive air" there, even when the coup was going on.
German relatives, very conservative, are now in Phuket, and plan to go to Bangkok, no worries.

The earlier Muslim uprisings and horrific reponse in the south were the result of policies of the previous prime minister, Thaksin.

Normal care is due, however.

Unfortunately, the 'uprisings' continue.

It's interesting to see how those outside of Thailand viewed the coup.
Like the question "is it safe now?" and someone mentioned "uprisings continue"

I was here in Bangkok before, during and after the coup (still here) and other than the annoyance of the television programming going out in the middle of a movie we were watching at about 1130pm that night, I never for once felt "unsafe!"

The next day was pretty much business as usual except that soldiers were stationed at major intersections and other areas throughout the city. The general population actually seemed in very good spirits. They were even giving flowers to the soldiers and placing garlands on the tanks.
