Texas . Two week tour in February.
We are thinking of spending two weeks in mid February touring in Texas. We have visited USA several time but have never been to Texas. We are from Northern England where the February weather is cold, wet + often experience snow at that time. We would be flying into Houston.
What is the weather like on the coast and cities at this time of year?
We would like to spend time in Austin + San Antonio but we also love small towns. We like countryside, music, beaches. Also interested ok n seeing some college sports if possible.
Any suggestions, ideas would be helpful. Thanks

College sports at that point will be college basketball, which is a secondary sport in Texas (as opposed to the Atlantic coast states like the Carolinas and Virginia and Maryland in which it has tremendous import) or college wrestling, which is not prevalent in Texas (it's dominated by schools in the great plains and Penn State). Basically, it's the "winter sports" season in colleges and that means fewer offerings and less interesting ones.
Baylor (in Waco, TX) has good basketball teams (men and women) and both SMU and TCU (Dallas, Fort Worth, respectively) have decent men's teams. Texas (Austin, TX) and Texas A&M (College Station, TX) both have mediocre basketball programs. Rice and U of H (both Houston) tend to stink.
If you wait a month and schedule for mid-March, you'll get a good bit of the wildflower bloom, especially near San Antonio, Austin and the hill country. March is also the beginning of baseball season for the college teams and many of Texas's teams are good (Texas, A&M, Rice, Dallas Baptist).
