Tenaya Lodge outside Yosemite
Hi everyone,
Can anyone give me some feedback about the Tenaya Lodge hotel at Fishcamp near the Yosemite national park. Has anyone stayed there and if so would they recommend it. We were quite taken with the Tenaya Lodge Cottages. If anyone has stayed in these then we would love to here your views. What are the onsite retaurants like and is there anywhere to eat off site if you don't fancy the onsite facilities?
I've heard there are bad construction works on Highway 41. Is this still the case? How long is the drive to the national park - and does anyone have any "must see" recommendations in this area? We have 2 nights and 3 days to explore the national park.
All info gratefully received
Thank you very much

We stayed at Tenaya Lodge several years ago and it was quite nice. We stayed in the main hotel - comfy rooms, nice common rooms with a mountain lodge feel. We had 2 dinners on site and also got packed lunch to go one day. It was all quite good, although we thought it was pricey for what you get.
Fish Camp itself is pretty small, but Oakhurst is not far and is a bigger town.
The drive into Yosemite Valley took us about 45 minutes.

You don't say when you plan to go, but you'll need to check the latest road conditions and status of any/all roadwork projects. Construction on 41 is on-going.

Agree with november_moon and Peaceout. Our stay at Tenaya Lodge was memorable and pleasant. The cottages used to be part of another hotel, so keep in mind they are somewhat removed from the main lodge. That could be a plus or a minus depending on what your needs are.

The cottages used to be the Apple Tree Inn which is right at the turn into the Tenaya Lodge. I never stayed at the Apple Tree but have stayed several times at the Tenaya Lodge.
We love it. It is very nice. It's in an L shape with the pool being outside both the main section and the wing. There is also an indoor pool and spa.
The food has always been good whether you choose the deli, or the bar & grill or the more upscale Embers.

We have stayed at the Tenaya Lodge many times. This year we got a look at the cottages. They are charming, but somewhat removed. AS far as food is concerned, The Sierra Room and Jackalopes are fine. Embers pretends to be a goumet restaurant. I wouldn't go there again. You can drive into Oakhurst for some meals. I would particularly recommend the Crabcake House. Near the Tenaya is the Narrow Gauge Inn which also has good Continental food, but is not open in the winter. The Tenaya also has a new, lovely spa. Enjoy your trip.
