Tell me about Mt. Vernon, Iowa

My husband is there doing relief work. I expect he will be exhausted in the evening when he finishes his work, but should he have some free time, what should he see?
Thank you very much.

Wow, how is the flooding in Iowa? My wife's home town of Cedar Rapids has seen the downtown and more under water. It's wonderful that your husband is doing relief work....what would that be? Don't know much about Mt. Vernon. Surely he will find something in nearby CR for relaxation. He could drive over to the Amana Colonies which are kind of interesting. Or the Herbert Hoover home and library.

In the Amana Colonies there is a restaurant called the Ox Yoke Inn. The food is good and they are famous for a dessert called death by chocolate.
