Mt. Tabor, NJ
Hello. I'm going to a concert at The Tabernacle in Mt. Tabor, but I'm not familiar with the area. Does anyone know of any restaurants that would be good for a quick bite, or areas close by where I could search for one? If there's a nice park close to the tabernacle I could possible do a picnic. Thanks!

There are a few restaurants in downtown Denville which is down the road from Mt. Tabor. I've been in town to visit friends but haven't really been in the restaurants. I hear that Hunan Taste is supposedly one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Sorry can't be of any more help!

I can help with restaurant suggestions. If you can give me cuisines that you like and also whether it matters where it's BYOB, then I can be more specific. Here are a few thoughts:
- Hunan Taste in Denville is indeed a great upscale chinese restaurant.
- Also in Denville is La Cucina (used to be Atilio's) nice family friendly Italian (BYOB) and Cafe 53 (Continental, BYOB).
- You are also not far from Morristown, with many choices (French, Italian, Indian, English Pubs, etc.).
- Just a bit further is the Quiet Man in Dover. I love this place - upscale pub with great food.
- For really great pizza there is the Reservoir Tavern in Parsippany.
All of these places are within a 15 minute drive (or thereabouts).

Ooh, I looked at The Quiet Man and it looks perfect! I always manage to direct us to an Irish pub WHEREVER we are so this will be like tradition for us on the road. Thanks so much. It's very close, too. Is Mt. Tabor cute? It seems like it is.

I'm glad that the Quiet Man will work for you. I hope you'll like it as much as I do. By the way, they don't take reservations unless you have a party of 6 or more (I think). If you go on a Friday or Saturday night be prepared to wait. Outside of those times, seating should not be a problem.
I'm not that familiar with Mt. Tabor, other than driving right through it. Denville and Morristown both have town centers that are nice, with lots of little shops.

Oh, no! If we get there around 6pm on a Friday do you think it will be hard to get in? We'd be fine eating at the bar as I think he'll probably be happier with a bunch of completely unhealthy appetizers!
Now I have to watch the Quiet Man!

Hi! It turned out that we had NO time to eat. The weather was terrible and so, of course, was the traffic. Mt. Tabor was unbelievable. The concert was in The Tabernacle - an old church meeting hall. It is completely surrounded by old, beautiful, Victorian homes. You would think you were in Germany instead of NJ. So, we hope to go back in nice weather and walk around and eat at the Quiet Man. The sound at the place was great, too. If anyone can catch a show there you won't be sorry.
