taos lodging in feb?
We can't decide where to stay in Taos- we are going for a week - 1 ski day, 1 snowshoe, mostly just looking around by car...and eating! We like Adobe and Stars and Adobe and pines- any reccommendations on locations, etc? thanks

I just returned yesterday from Santa Fe/Taos. We stayed 3 nights at the Hacienda del Sol which was very nice. The people were sooo friendly. My favorite part was the hot tub and 4:00 snacks. Prior to making reservations, we had narrowed our choices to the Kachina (Best Western) or Hacienda del Sol; since it fit in the budget we opted for the B&B, but I would have been happy with the BW--it looked pretty nice from the outside. There is a ski shuttle that stops in front of the hotel and it is a convenient location.
They said the skiing is the best that it has been in 5 years. I did not go,but my family did. They were skiing in a foot of powder.
Restaurants were disappointing. Based on recommendations from the "locals" we tried 5 different places. My favorite was Orlando's.

I just came back from Taos 3 weeks ago. I would reccommend the Touchstone Inn. The food is great, the place is cozy and beautiful and the inn keepers are the sweetest people in the world. I sat in a hot tub and had the most insipiring view of the moon rise over Taos mountain. As far as food, my favorite was the Appletree on Bent Street. A lot of food and a lot of flavors on one plate. For lunch go to Eske's brew pub and have the stout and a plate of nachos!

We just got back from a 4 night stay in Taos and we had a wonderful time. The skiing was great, but the B&B/Inn where we stayed also made the trip. We stayed at Salsa del Salto (http://www.bandbtaos.com/), between Taos and Taos ski village. The owners were wonderful and so attentive to all details. I would recommend it to anyone who makes their way up there.

We're actually looking into staying at the Salsa del Salto at the end of May - "swithers", I'd love to hear more about your stay there. They don't have pics of the rooms on their website but we love the idea of a pool at the end of May (will it be hot enough?). Any/all thoughts you may have would be appreciated.
