I want to plan a trip to Vegas with my 77 year old parents. They are a young 77 so walking is not a problem. I want to stay in one of the nicer hotels but also be able to visit several casinos. I don't want to be limited to just the casino in the hotel we stay in. We go to Vegas yearly in January for a trade show and stay at Mandalay. We have also stayed at the MGM. Is there any time to avoid Vegas? Is it more crowded in the summer than in January? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

It is HOt in summer and I cannot imagine your parents walking the strip during the daytime. It was HOT in early OCtober when I was there and I found it near unbearable to walk around and I am way younger. Plan to have them walk around at night, with you. It is cheaper in summmer for a reason.

Stay mid-strip, i.e. Mirage, TI, Paris, Flamingo, Bally's, Caesar's, Bellagio, Venetian .... whatever your budget handles.

Do NOT go in the summer. It's 110 PLUS and not pleasant to be outdoors, let alone walk anyplace.

Vegas is always crowded, but mid-week is still your best bet and go when school is in session (however there will always be parents with kids in tow, it seems no big deal to get kids out of school these days). A "nice" month weatherwise is April, early May is not bad either. Sept. can still be hot, Oct. is usually bearable. We go often and these are the months we normally go in. Nov. is usually not too bad either, nor is early Dec. It really depends on what you want weather wise.

Again, tho, stay mid-strip. You can walk either way and see alot more. Every hotel has a huge casino, you are not limited to where you are staying by any means.

Ditto, do stay mid strip. I like Bally's and Flamingo for a moderate budget. If I had a larger budget, I'd stay at Bellagio.

Went to Vegas for my first time at the beginning of this month (NOV) and the weather was perfect. 75 during the day, and down into the 60s at night.

Early March the weather starts to get very nice (usually)....mid March the conventions invade and spring breakers tend to jack up the room prices.

I was there in early March one time., with low to mid 70's for the highs. I think the lows got down to 39/40. So bring jackets, for Jan - March, if you go in that time frame.

It is extremely hot in the summer in LV, but if you are from a hot humid climate. i.e. Florida, Louisiana, upper midwest etc. I think you are able to tolerate the excessive heat 100+ much better than someone from New England or the cooler mountain states.
