Taj Majal in Atlantic City?
We are going to AC for a day over Labor Day weekend to celebrate son's 21st birthday. Want a place along the boardwalk that is safe and clean. Would the Taj Mahal work for us? I've been checking out other forums, and the reviews have been mixed (someone from a few years ago mentioned bed bugs and I panicked)...but figured I wanted to get the "latest" feedback from there. Any input/thoughts appreciated! Also, open to ideas for dinner. Many thanks!

We usually stay at Borgata. But in Sept when we go, we want to stay on the Boardwalk. We like Ceasers, have not stayed there, but LOVE the location and their Pier over the ocean...it has great shops and restaurants...Buddakhan one of my face restaurants in the WORLD.

Just be carefull on the boardwalk, I know people who got jumped for $ and cigarettes. And 2 blocks off the boardwalk is almost slum conditions still. They never kept their promises to clean it up. I avoid it and go to other shore towns or Vegas.

I just came back from AC and had a GREAT time! Weather was perfect. Ate at Red Square in Trop. Great. Had the $59 tasting menu - with 7 courses. Do it!
For 21st birthday dinner, though, maybe your son wants to pick out another restaurant that is hip for young people. Hmmm. What kind of food does he like? Trop has many options, as does the Pier.
I stayed at Chelsea Hotel - the new boutique "hip" place that has opening specials, because it is not finished yet, lol! This is what it's like - they took the old Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson's. Spray painted the furniture, but left the retro silver wallpaper (or is it NEW retro paper?!) Added awesome beds, linens, curtains, and made the bathrooms beautiful. 5th floor has chic pool, but you can get FREE chairs, towels, umbrellas, etc at the beach!! 5th floor also has pool table, lounges, and an expensive restaurant. Coffee shop not quite open, yet. Stay there, if you get a deal. If not, don't!
Taj is OK. I heard there was no pool there...? My friend stayed there 2 summers ago, and said rooms were fine. Caesars is better. Trop is good (but maybe only for the new rooms). Borgata is out of the way, if you want boardwalk, as is the marina.
Maybe you've already booked, so let us know how it goes...
BTW - outlet stores have big sales now. Pier shops, too.
