Sutton Place Apartment Hotel NYC

Can anyone comment on the Sutton Place Apartment/Hotel at 429 East 52nd? Have you stayed there and were you satisfied with the property? Clean? Well maintained? Secure? I like the area, but I have never heard of this property and any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Margie, I know the block well (have friends who live there) but never thought about that building as a hotel place. After much searching, found the listing on the internet here
http://www.trpproperties.com/listing...stingID=100003

The apt. shown feels claustrophic to me and $200/night or $4,000/mo doesn't seem like a great bargain although I don't know what you're coming it to. I'm sure it's safe and secure. One of the fanciest buildings in the city is at the end of the block (River House on the water). It's not a location that I'd say is easy to get around for sightseeing (although the crosstown bus at 49/50 is nearby).

Since you seem to be looking in the east 50s, have you checked the Affinia 50 (formerly known as the Plaza 50), the Kimberly, the Best Western Hospitality? These are all a bit closer to Lexington Ave subway.

Thanks for the reply! No, I wouldn't pay $200 night either, I found it for less. I usually use Priceline for something on the Eastside, but for our next trip my brother and his family want to join us in the city so I'm trying to find a nice hotel that will accommodate everyone. It really doesn't matter that this is a little off the beaten path, we are the type of people that leave the hotel in the AM and don't return until late evening. Thank you for your opinion regarding security, I appreciate your view.

Margie, where did you find it for less? Have you checked the Salisbury which has 2 bed/2 bath apts? Also the Best Western Hospitality that I mentioned (listed on tripadvisor under both best western and hospitality) also do a 2 bed/2 bath unit with free breakfast.

But if you find a 2 bed/bath at 429 e 52 st for a good price, you're in a nice residential neighborhood with Henry Kissinger as a neighbor.

Don't want to be negative - since this s a great address - but you do realize that this is a residentiall hotel - and not a tourist hotel - don;t you? It doesn't include standard hotel services (maid service, concierge, room service, bellmen etc) - but is really just a short-term apartment rental.

Hope you enjoy your stay!

Hi, I have checked BW Hospitality House and for a quad it's $225+ pre tax, and Salisbury is $229 pre tax. Certainly reasonable for a big city, but not really offering me more than the SP (at least not more amenities that we would take advantage of)

nytraveler, it's ok that there isn't a bellman, concierge etc we are fairly self sufficient and have been to NYC many times before. But thank you for mentioning it, if it was something that we required and arrived to find these services not available, I would have been disappointed. Still checking into some other options to see what the group wants to do, although I tend to favor the SP as we stayed nearby at the Beekman last August and really like the neighborhood.
