Sunnyvale to Yosemite
Hi,
I was finally able to get accomodation in the valley during Memorial-day weekend. I had to keep checking the reservation number every 2 hours the whole week. Will be travelling Saturday morning from Sunnyvale.
Any recommendations on the route / traffic ? Not sure whether to take 120 or 140.

Last week we travelled from San Jose to Yosemite. Going to Yosemite we took 140 (went over Pacheco Pass on 152, then took 59 up to Merced). Coming back we took 120 to Tracy and then 580 back into the bay area.
I enjoyed the ride on 140 much better than 120. 140 goes right along the river and it was a really nice, relaxing drive. 120 has some great views but has some very steep and very narrow sections, so it wasn't nearly as relaxing.
Traffic-wise I also think the 140 route would win out. Hwy 680 and 580 are always a mess on holiday weekends, which would be the most direct route to Hwy 120. On the otherhand, Hwy 101 has just been widened so traffic south of SJ shouldn't be bad.
