summer U.S. anniversary trip?
My husband and I would like to stay within the U.S. for a summer get away for our anniversary. We are looking for a warm, preferably beach, vacation, with no kids. We do not do anything but lounge by the pool/beach and go out for nice dinners. We've got miles to use for flights, but also don't want to break the bank on a hotel. We've tossed around Florida, San Diego, LA. Not sure if an Arizona location would be good (yes, I realize no beach!)? We just need some guidance...can anyone help?

if you are willing to just do the pool (you said az!) you should consider scottsdale az, sedona az, tucson, az , Santa Fe, NM for beaches you could also think florida panhandle, never been but heard maybe galveston tx and quite frankly las vegas you would have tons of choices for dining and entertainment if you wanted.

I wish I had some good suggestions, but definitely NOT Galveston. Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly fine for us Texans for a day trip, but I wouldn't recommend the beaches for someone on an anniversary trip. Just having seen pictures of places like Destin, Fl you are much better off there for pretty beaches.

I'll second Cape Cod. Visit the National Seashore in Eastham, lie on the unspoiled beaches, kick back and relax!! Stay on the outer cape from Eastham to Truro for the most relaxing least commercial feeling. Lot's to do: theater, fine dining, art galleries, and quant New England villages to visit, all within 30 minutes of Eastham. Eastham is "Cape Cod's little secret" according to the New York Times and Coast Guard Beach is one of the 10 best beaches in the USA according to the Wall Street Journal.
