Summer crowds at Disneyland

What are the crowds like mid-week at Disneyland during the summertime? We are thinking of taking a quick trip down there in June or July and were thinking that mid-week would probably be better than over a weekend. Is there much difference in the crowds?

Thanks.

Lots of children are still in school all over North America in June, and almost all children are not in school in July.

If you arrive in early June, many kiddies will still be in school. However, later June and July it will be crowded. The last time I went to D-land/CA was early Sept 2001 and it did get very crowded. And I was there on a Friday.

I would recommend arriving very early and making use of the Fast Pass. (Even then, you will probably have some lines but not as bad) Just prepare yourself that you will be among "the masses", use sunblock, drink lots of water, and have a good time. Maybe it's just me, but I always meet the most interesting people while waiting on lines at D-land!

You can get a wealth of Disneyland information at www.disboards.com., and going to the Disneyland section. This topic is discussed a lot. I found this site through them, http://www.scottware.com.au/theme/feature/crowds.htm, which will give you historical statistics.

supposedly Wed and Thurs are the best days to visit.........people fly in on Saturdays, go to Disneyland on Sun, Mon and Tues, and the crowds dwindle SLIGHTLY on Wed Thurs Fri

That's a very interesting site Burley. I was at Disneyland over Spring Break and I noticed from your website that with the exception of the 4th of July, Spring Break is as busy as it gets at Disneyland. That said, I was impressed with how well Disney handled the crowds. Evey though the park was very crowded the lines were really moving well. We never waited more than 30 minutes for anything. The only ride that was just "forget about it" long was the Matterhorn. The "fast pass" thing is great, but one thing I noticed is that at some point EVERYONE is grabbing fast passes and coming back so the fast pass lines end up getting really crowded too. I'd rather get in line now and wait 30 minutes then come back in an hour and a half and wait 20. This was on a Wednesday that we went by the way.

We thought the same thing and went last June on a Wednesday. Very, very crowded! It was also grad month when all of the high schools come so they close early for the Grad Nights.

I think my favorite month to visit DL is in October, mid-week. Weather is still nice and the summer crowds are gone. ***kim***

Mid-week during June would be a better bet. This year is the 50th Anniversary, peaking around July 16 when Space Mountain is scheduled to reopen. Over Spring Break, Saturday 3/26 Disneyland was at maximum capacity *75,000. Many of the Fastpasses were distributed by mid-day. If you do go, www.mouseplanet.com is my favorite non-Disney site for trip planning information.

My son and his fiance were in Disneyland on March 26. They could not believe it! I rather felt sorry for them, I had warned them it would be crowded! LOL It was a birthday trip and one of the only weekends she could get off work. ***kim***

Thanks everybody. I know it will be crowded no matter what day we go. If we go, I think we will go on a Wed or Thur.
