Los Angeles in June
My sister and I are taking our first vacation together, no husbands or kids, and are wondering about the weather in LA...we are planning June 9 to 19, taking side trips to see the sights, etc...Also if you have any suggestions for must-see places. Any tips would be appreciated...July and Aug are out of the question. Many thanks from Canada!

June is the time for what we call here in So Cal "June gloom." One can almost set their calendar that from after Memorial Day (end of May) until the 4th of July, the skies will be overcast and cloudy. This sometimes burns off in the afternoon, and we get sun. Sometimes it stays around all day. Temps are usually cooler than May or July - but not freezing by any means.
A lot of tourists come to the LA area during June expecting nice, sunny weather. Some years they are not disappointed. But the majority of time, they experience this phenomenon. (Basically it's the marine clouds coming in from the ocean) If you are sightseeing then it shouldn't be a problem and you may even get some days on the beach or at the pool, depending on your outlook.
As far as must-sees, it really depends on what you are interested in. Museums? History? Theme parks? Beaches? Nature (mountains)? There is so much in the area, we would need to know what some of your interests are.
Have fun!

Sounds like May would be a better month, although I don't think it will work for us. We are interested in beaches, shopping, outdoor dining, wineries, stargazing, and would like to drive the coast to Mexico as well.

You'll also be arriving right before the kids get out of school, so it will be nice. Weather's nice, except for morning clouds. Consider going to Catalina when you come here. It won't be as packed as it will be the week after you leave.
