If you have to arrive/leave from the same place, I would definitely try for Billing, MT. Mapquest says 4 hrs to Rapid City, and only 6hrs from Jackson, Wy. Billings is right on I-90, so you can do a straight shot to RC(do Devils Tower on the way or after Black Hills), spend a few days there, then make your way back to YStone via Cody and east entrance. The nice thing is that as you head back to Billings via Yellowstone, you can exit Yellowstone via the Northeast entrance, Cooke City/Red Lodge and the Beartooth Hwy/Beartooth Pass which I understand is a spectacular drive. I regret we couldn't fit that one in. http://www.beartoothhighway.com/ Hope it works out.

Hi all!
I am checking into the Billings Option thanks dw 732. I have a quick question.

Do you think it is better to take a flight with 2 stops (like to Billings) or to take a flight with 1 stop (like to Rapid City) and have to drive 8 hours to get back to Rapid City when we are done in Yellowstone/GTNP.
