Suggestions for Inner Harbor, Baltimore area

We are staying in Inner Harbor East, Baltimore in February for a few days. We plan on the National Aquarium, Visionary Art Museum, Walters Museum, Washington Monument. Are there any other must see places and restaurant recommendations? We will want to try the crabs of course. We will have a car but are looking for places we could walk as well. Also, are there any nice places for hiking in the area? We read about the Edger Allen Poe House but some said it was in a questionable area. Any thoughts? Thank you

For your seafood try the Rusty Scupper. For getting around town try the purple line Charm City Circulator. Their motto is Fast Friendly and Free.
There is an old submarine near the Aquarium (Torsk). There is also a sister ship to Old Ironsides (Constellation).
I think there is a water taxi to go see Fort McHenry.

Hi staci—I lived in Baltimore for a number of years and I loved going to the markets. Lexington & Cross Street Markets were my favourites, and I enjoyed the seafood you could get at both (Faidley’s I lived for their Maryland Crab Chowder). Fells Point is a historic neighbourhood accessible by the water taxi and feels early colonial in parts. The neighbourhood around the Cross Street Market, (Federal Hill)and the Neighbourhood near the Walters (Mount Vernon) are quite charming too. Best wishes—Daniel

Thanks for the info, tomfuller. We will definitely check out the Rusty Scupper and the submarine and ships.

Thanks Daniel_Williams. Someone just told us the neighborgood around Lexington Market wasn't the best, so we will go to the Cross Street Market. We are looking forward to trying the Maryland Crab Chowder! Do you know of any nice parks with scenery within an hour's drive?

It has been a few years since I have been to Baltimore but I had the best crab cakes in Fells Point at Bertha's. At that time you could walk from the Inner Harbor to Fells Point along the water.

Does the water taxi run in February? I was there in late October or early November and I remember it had stopped for the season.

Thanks, gardendiva. I will add Bertha's to my list. I'll have to check on the water taxi. I know February isn't the most popular time to go, but we are from Florida and want to experience the cold . I just saw the Cross Street Market is closed for refurbishment and won't open until the Spring. Are there any other "foodie" markets around?
