Thanks -- just to clarify my question, my original plans were to drive the Pass on the way to Aspen, and then drive through Glenwood Springs on the way back to Denver. Everyone on this thread has suggested the opposite route (Glenwood to Aspen, Pass on way back to Denver). I wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason (like better view or safer drive) to take the Pass from Aspen to Denver, as opposed to the opposite.

I would stick with your original plan. The pass is slow and you would have plenty of time to look around on your way to Aspen from Breckenridge. The return through the canyon will be quicker and more dependable time wise back to Denver. Either way works.
