Suggestions For A Summer Getaway?

My boyfriend and I live in NYC and are looking to getaway for about a week at the end of July. We have airline miles so we can probably get a free domestic flight. We would love to go to Hawaii or Europe, but those are too far and too expensive. We are completely open to where we go. I would like there to be water - be it ocean, sea or lake. We appreciate nature but would also like somewhat upscale accommodations. Basically when I go away, I like my hotel to be nicer than my apt. I gauge a place's quality by their towels, if ya know what I mean.

We're looking for some place we have never been where we can enjoy the beach, activities, dining, exploring, etc... I'm open to any place from Costa Rica to Jackson Hole. I would love to hear suggestions from you seasoned travelers about your favorite destinations. I also thought about the Caribbean - but would it be too hot and humid in July?

Thanks and I can't wait to read what y'all have to say!

Costa Rica is fantastic, but I believe that is rainy season, so save that trip for March some year.

Will your miles get you to Canada? We've had great summer trips to both Quebec and Victoria.

Thanks for the rain tip! I love Quebec, but is there a beach there?

Another idea might be to call your airline on which you have miles to see if there are destinations which are available for the end of July. That will narrow your quest.

Have fun!

Aspen and Vail or
Park City Utah. No water but plenty of mountains and nice upscale hotels
