suburbs hotel
We'll be coming from I-95 South toward IAD (dulles). We'll stay only 24 hours overall but would love to be able to see us much as we could. I was looking at some hotels in suburbs area where we can ride metro to downtown (my son loves trains). One of the options is Wellesley Inn Fairfax - $70/night/room. I'm not sure how big rooms are.
I'm really looking for hotels that are easy to access to I-95 and coming from IAD. I'm trying to find place that is not far away from metro (walking would be nice). I have a 2 year old and elderly parents coming with me so we need convinience.
I also would love to have priced below $100 (trip within 10 days).
Id appreciate any help. I can't find much opinions on Wellesley Inn but it sounds like a nice place from their website.
Thank you

First off, you may not get many responses because you did not put DC in your title (even if you chose it as a search topic, all posts get dumped in the same general folder).
You do know that IAD is off Rt 267, the Dulles Toll road, not I-95? The Wellesley Inn is on Rt 50 and is not really near a metro station - you could drive the the Vienna station (Orange line) and park however. Why are you looking to stay so far out?

I didn't realize that this message went into general information
My first post.. oh well.
I mentioned I-95 because I wanted an easier access from and to this highway. Fairfax came in mind because price seemed right and it was only metrobus away from metrorail. I'm not really sure where is the best place to stay for a budget travel. Everything seems above $100 and I have to get 2 rooms.

If you don't need to stay near the Dulles airport, I would look into the Rosslyn area of Virginia. It is just across the Key Bridge from Georgetown. You would take I-495 (Capital beltway) to I-66. There is a Holiday Inn and a Best Western that may have good rates. If you are only in DC for one night, I would stay as close as possible to the city. Just make sure to avoid driving during rush hour because the beltway is a parking lot.
If you are driving north on 95 from the south, you could also look into Old Town Alexandria. There are several hotels around the King St metro (blue/yellow lines) like a Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites.

Since you're coming from the south (right?) and it doesn't sound like you REALLY need to stay near IAD, consider some of these:
if your travel is on a weekday, you could stay as far south as Fredericksburg, and take the VRE commuter rail into DC; there are other stops further north too. Hotels much cheaper, but you have to plan on being in DC the entire "workday"
if a weekend, or you wish to be closer, look at Red Roof Inns, either in Springfield, or better yet in Alexandria. I've stayed at the newly renovated Alexandria RRI, maybe about a mile from Huntington Station (Yellow line). Best deals usually on RR's own website.
There's an Embassy Suites in Alexandria across the street from King St Metro (Yellow & Blue lines) which is pricier, but would one of their suites accomodate all 4 of you?? They have a great breakfast, an evening reception, a pool, and it's a nice stroll down King St to "Old Town".
I've stayed 3 times at a Wellesley Inn in NJ, and it seems to be slowly deteriorating each time (visits a year apart each) ... little housekeeping & maintenance items .. nothing too serious, but certainly noticable.

Dules is located on route 28 and the Dulles Toll road. Quite a ways from I-95. As kcapuani suggests, Fredericksburg, Alexandria, or even Woodbridge would be better suited. Woodbridge is also served by the VRE. Another thought would be to take the Prince William Parkway fromI-95 to Manassas and get the VRE there. Manassas has an Old Town section with nice restaurants and a hotel right near the station. The Olfe Towne Hotel is quite decent and even has a haunted room.
