sorry i cant help, we stayed with friends in Steamboat.
but this might help if you've never been there: steamboat is a VERY small town. they have very good shuttles and free buses. i'm guessing that almost anywhere you stay will have shuttle access to "the mountain."

that's funny, i was gonna mention some good eats but cant remember the names of the places. (i have an email into my friend and will post again with the info.)
there was a great steakhouse, and also a cool/funky little breakfast spot; both had great food.
there's several places at the base of the mountain, but we just had drinks/appetizers at one of them. not sure that you'll find any really special food there. (also a cafeteria-type place up on the mountain. good place to chill and refuel while skiing. again, not gourmet, just convenient.)
i'll get the name of the places in town we liked.

We have liked both Snowflower (a short walk to the gondola) and Scandinavian (can ski to the gondola or take their private shuttle to Thunderhead lift).
For the evenings, Snowflower is on the public shuttle, and Scandinavia has a private shuttle that runs both on a regular schedule and on an on-call basis.
Scandinavian was very moderately priced.
Restaurants I remember liking are the Steamboat Smokehouse, the Chinese restaurant near the grovery store, the sushi place in town, and the Tugboat for burgers.

The Lodge, Ptarmagin, Ski Time Square, the West, are a couple of condo properties. There are so many. Like tlf18 says the shuttles are constant and go almost everywhere. So it doesn't really matter where you stay.
As far as restaurants go - they change so quickly. Dos Amigos on the Mountain and the Cantina (the Cantina has the best Mexitoss salad!) in town have both been around for a lot of years.
Mazzola's and the Old West Steak House have been around a long time also.
For Prime Rib the ONLY place to go is Ore House at the Pine Grove (by the Safeway between the Mountain and the Town).
There used to be a place where you could grill your own steaks. I forgot the name. It was just one block off of Highway 40 in town.
There also used to be a fondue restaurant next to the Harbor Inn in town.
Don't know if either of those restaurants are still in business.
Hope this helps. I love Steamboat. It was where I learned to ski.
