looking 4 aspen hotel recommendation
we're planning a road trip through rocky mtn's this summer. we're staying mainly in cabins/small hotels along the way, but would like to stay in a nice hotel on our last night in aspen. we have two very young boys, so we also want to be comfortable with them at the hotel. we're looking for something nice, but not so "adult" that we'll feel uncomfortable bringing our boys. (we want them to have fun too!)
any suggestions? thank you!

Check out the Mountain Chalet Aspen (www.mountainchaletaspen.com ). The location couldn't be better - right in the center of Aspen so you won't have to drive in town to get to any restaurants or shopping. Older property, but very comfortable and clean accommodations and very reasonable prices in the summer. The rates include a really nice cold breakfast buffet, plus has a swimming pool. We loved it when we stayed about two years ago - childen would be very welcome, I'm sure!
I bet you'd like someplace to eat like Boogie's Diner, a classic Aspen place. Also hope you can visit Maroon Bells, the most photographed mountain vista, with good reason, for a great family hike and lots of photo ops!

I can also recommend The Gant. Nice condos, with three different quality and price levels. Walking distance into Aspen town. Two pools, tennis courts, free shuttle service.
We've also liked Aspen Square, but ask for a recently renovated unit, because they don't charge less for the older units like The Gant does. It's smack in the middle of Aspen town.
Little Nell would not be especially comfortable, as the OP requested. Not unless you pull up in a Hummer or a Lambo!

The Nell is too fancy for the boys. The Gant is nice, but kind of too secluded. I personally would recommend staying at The Hotel Jerome. It is on Main Street, and is one of the oldest establishments still around in Aspen. There is a lot of local history there. You are really close to the restaurants also. The concierge there will make a dinner reservation if you want to go out. You can do a little research at www.foodieaspen.com/ - Go have a good time.

I've stayed at the Mountain Chalet twice and really enjoyed it. The lodging is basic but clean and comfortable. As tekwriter already noted, breakfast is included in the price, the hotel has a nice swimming pool and there's a large park directly across the street.

Yes, if you can afford the Hotel Jerome, it is the best in Aspen, if you like local history and a beautiful historic hotel. Excellent customer service. Small and pretty pool in a nicely landscaped patio. Great food, too.
We once had a corner suite there, with our two kids. It had a front room with two twin roll-away beds, and a gorgeous king bedroom. Huge bathroom. Very luxurious. We'd actually reserved a simpler double queen room, but they'd made a mistake on our reservation, so they immediately upgraded us to the suite. It was heaven.

CHeck out the Molly Gibson Lodge. It's close to everything, quaint, pretty, has a nice heated pool. We used to always stay at the Limelight Lodge which was completely torn down and rebuilt last year (and unavailable at the time of our travel, the reason we stayed at Molly Gibson.) The Limelight Lodge has one of the best locations of all Aspen hotels, and you should Google them to see if they are open. Don't know what it's like as it will be completely different than when we stayed there.
