Hayden is the closest airport for Steamboat. Airport code is HDN. My son lives and works there so we fly him in and out a couple times a year. The drive to Denver is about 3.5 hours and there is a shuttle bus from Denver airport to Steamboat for another option.
There are tons of accomodations from condos to regular hotel rooms in a range of prices. Try this site for more info:
http://www.steamboat.com/
Its a beautiful area and lots to see and do and as yet somewhat undiscovered especially in the summer.
If you have specific questions, you can email me [email protected] or try my son at...... [email protected]

We like the Sheraton. It has a resort atmosphere, restaurants/lounges/ice cream shop plus a nice outdoor pool.

The condo asssociation is a great resource. We're staying at the Terraces at Eagle Ridge next month. They are beautiful. There are many more condos than hotel/motel sites in Steamboat. You're best buys are in the condo area, but then, you don't have the full range of services like the Sheraton. Check with Steamboat Lodging at www.steamboatresorts.com or There's a Fairfield Inn on the east edge of town. We stayed at the Comfort Inn last year, and did not have a good experience. The place was clean enough, but the managers were unpleasant, overwhelmed, and raised prices based on how busy it got even though you had arranged a lower price over the phone the week before. BYW, weekends are substantially higher at times during the summer months, especially when there are tournaments in town. Ski Time Square had reasonbly priced lodging, but the condos were quite worn-maybe late 70's, but perfectly acceptable with underground parking. In the summer months, the motels get filled much faster than the condos. Most people stay on the mountain area east of town.

We stayed at the Phoenix Condominiums this past February and found them to be very nice. They are mid-priced. There are some restaurants and a convenience store right around the corner and they have a free shuttle that takes you anywhere. It is a short walk to the Village and the shuttle will take you downtown. In the winter, American Airlines has a non-stop flight into Hayden from O'Hare. All of my friends from the East Coast met us here and we flew together right into Hayden. I do not know about the summer flights.

Agree that the Sheraton would be good. Good location, nice pool. If your going to look at condos youmight check ut http://www.vrbo.com/vrbo/co.htm. I would try to stay on Mt. Werner ( the Mtn) http://www.vrbo.com/vrbo/co.htm
