Steakhouse in Portland?

Looking for a good steakhouse near downtown Portland. Not looking for anything fancy, just somewhere to get a really good steak and a cold beer.

That would be Portland Oregon?

If so, the Ringside on Burnside. Bring a flashlight and an appetite.

Assuming you're talking about Portland OR, like most cities, we've got Morton's and Ruth's Criss, which probably have the best steaks. The best non-chain steakhouses are probably The Ringside and Portland Steak & Chop House. The Ringside, a locals' favorite, has been around for over 50 years. All are in or close to downtown.

Oops, yes, I did mean Portland OR. I really need this vacation!

We have Morton's & Ruth Chris' here in Miami. Been there, done that. I just found a site that recommends Hayden Island & El Gaucho. Any thoughts from the Portland OR experts out there?

And if you have a spare evening after dinner at the Ringside..I'd recommend dinner at the Bluehour. (They also have steak and beer and a whole lot more!). We just got back from Portland and had another knock out meal there. Food, service, atmosphere were all very good.

Hi John, You know all about Mortons and Ruth's Chris. Definitely check out the branch of Seattle's wonderful El Gaucho. You'll be glad you did. Jim

El Gaucho here in Portland would get my vote and I don't even eat steak (my boyfriend does)! It has the best service and atmosphere!
