Stays in Charleston

I will be going to Charleston,SC in September and am looking for a recommendation for a hotel or B&B in a somewhat central location priced around $135/nite. Can anyone suggest a place?

The Elliott House Inn gets good reviews (check out TripAdvisor.com), but rates are a bit above 135 (much higher at the beginning of September, around 189 near the end of the month). It's just a few blocks from Broad St...

Hope that helps!

We stayed at the Barksdale House Inn a few years ago and enjoyed it. Their rates vary dramatically depending upon the season.

You might try the Meeting Street Inn. It is not extremely fancy, but it is very clean, has a nice breakfast, and is in a great location. Their rates vary, depending on the season, but are usually reasonable. I was looking at their website and their August rates are $129 per night. You might call about September, because I couldn't get any rooms to show up as available during the whole month, so I tried some random dates in Oct., Nov, and Dec. as well and I found no dates. I have a feeling that their online reservation system doesn't go out that far in advance. Anyway, I would give them a call, if you're interested.

I highly recommend the Indigo Inn. It's centrally located, has a delightful courtyard, and wonderful breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. Their prices are reasonable considering their location, and they also have their own parking lot (a rarity in Charleston).

Have stayed at 7 or 8 bed & breakfasts (and Mills House and Frances Marion hotels) and enjoyed them all. I think it's hard to go wrong with a B & B in/near the historic district. So why not just check websites such as these and pick the best deal?
