Just booked Planters Inn in Charleston - did I make a mistake?
I have just booked a room at the Planters Inn in Charleston for 3 nights in September - my first time to Charleston - I have read several negative reviews - people complaining about excessive noise at night while they are trying to sleep - did I make a mistake? If so, where should I stay that is very nice?

You picked a gorgeous inn which happens to be right in the center of things. I suggest you call the inn and request a quiet room. If they cannot offer you one switch to Charleston Place. Perfect timing for Charleston. Have a wonderful visit!

i stayed here about 10 years ago when i was like 25 and could appreciate it for what it is. what i remember now is it was a lovely inn in a fabulous location and i wish to stay there in the future with my husband...its that type of a place. this is not a big bustlin inn or hotel so, dont expect it.

I canna say this often enough...if these are TripAdvisor hotel/BB reviews, please, please, please, take them with many grains of salt. If you listened to all the negativity you see there, you'd never leave your house.

All old homes, B&Bs, Inns, etc will have squeaky floors, creaky plumbing and sometimes thin walls. The same can be said of old cheap hotels ..
I thought The Planters Inn was beautiful, we did not stay there, only took a look, while waiting to have dinner next door at The Olde Pink House.
If you want a silent room, a newer hotel might be better for you. But if you read reviews on TripAdvisor, take them with a very tiny grain of salt.
We stayed at the Hyatt, a short walk from the Planters Inn, on the River.
