Staying at Westin Kaanapali

Got a week stay at the Westin Kaanapali. Has anyone stayed there recently and can give tips on the hotel's restaurants and other amenities? I just got out of the hospital from surgery and can't do strenuous activity, so it will be more of a time of R&R. So looking forward to it!

Do you mean the Westin Maui Hotel & Spa or The Maui Ocean Villas?

Try typing in the one where you'll be staying in the search box above; there should be lots of threads here on them both.

OR try Maui hotels.

I stayed at the Westin Maui Hotel & Spa but it was 10/06, so my info wouldn't be up to date but it was a very nice hotel, great location. I have an old trip report on here, but the biggest things I would mention are: #1 resort fee, #2 parking fee and #3 paying for chairs on the beach. I think those are all the same.

We had one breakfast at hotel only, it was expensive. All other meals were elsewhere.

The pools are great but you may not be interested in them after surgery.

IF you are talking about the Ocean Villas, they are more like condos. There is a bar and a restaurant in the lobby and by pool, but that's about it. Pool is so so, beach is nice, still have to pay for chairs. You can take free bus between the 2 places. Cannot use the hotel pool unless you are hotel guest.

If you are talking about the Hotel (and not the condos), then the good news is it's right next door to Whaler's Village, which has some very good restaurants at beach level (Hula Grill and Leilani's). There's a new restaurant there too, can't remember the name, on the next level up. I'm not sure if there's an elevator, but I would think there is.

I'm staying at the hotel & spa. I don't expect to venture too far from the hotel. Would be nice if the room has a microwave but I doubt it because the restaurants would not appreciate it.
What amenities come with paying the resort fee? I know it is a mandatory fee--per person I assume. Will be with my husband and 2 teenagers.

The resort fee is $25 per room, per day, luckily. The rooms have coffee maker and refridgerator only. I got a flower lei on arrival, husband got banana leaf one. There is also juice and chilled towels on arrival. There is a really nice fragrance that is pumped into the air when you go into the lobby, too.

A daily resort fee of $25 per room is charged (fee does not include tax and is subject to change without notice). The fee includes:

Kapalua West Maui Airport shuttle service (subject to availability)
Shuttle service to Ka'anapali golf and tennis facilities (subject to availability)
Shuttle service to Lahaina town and Starwood resorts in Ka'anapali
Use of WESTIN Workout Center (24 hours)
High-speed Internet access in guestrooms
Poolside Jacuzzi
Two bottles of water per day
Self parking
Souvenir shopping bag
Outdoor portrait sitting and one 4x6-inch color print (by appointment)

You teens will love the pool.

great resort and spa..ask for rooms that are facing the ocean and not the mountains and a higher room.
Agree with Hula Grill and Lealani's..its good casual food.
the $25 daily resort fees are high but I believe that includes parking and its one hell of a great pool!
Shuttle service to Lahaina is great and wish I knew about that one.

Thanks for the info! Glad the resort fee is per room and includes parking. When we stayed at the Four Seasons at Manele on Lanai a few years ago the fee was per person but a one time charge (not per day) if I remember right.
