Maui Westin Promotion - ever use it?

We just received a promotional invitation from the Maui Westin - 5 nights for $749. It would be in a Terrace Room, which normally goes for about three times the promotional amount. Anyone ever stay there using this promotion? What was your experience like? Reccomend it? We are a family of four, and used to staying in condos, but you can't beat the price. I've read on this board that the Westin's rooms are small and the resoprt seems a little run down. Is that still the case? It also appears that folks prefer the Hyatt over the Westin, but again the price is attractive. Thanks.

One of the biggest reasons people at this website have been warning others away from the Maui Westin in recent months is the promotion you refer to. It attracts tons of families and overcrowds this already bustling resort, which is in need of refurbishment anyway. If this promo is the only way you can swing a sta y in Maui, then by all means hop aboard. But if you're only using it to save a buck, and you could afford to stay elsewhere, I'd opt for elsewhere.

We just received this promotion too. It's because a relative bought into the new Westin Resort timeshare they are building. I grilled the gal about the room, she promised it would be one of their larger 450 sq ft rooms but view depends on what is available. The offer comes with a $185 voucher for Hertz Car Rental and $75 hotel credit for dining or whatever. However she also told me there is a $12 fee resort fee per day for the hotel, which is not uncommon (golf, exercise rm, parking etc.)so there goes the $75 credit. Have 18 months to use the offer no blackout days except holidays. Overall the offer sounds like a good deal, but I have some doubts about what we'd actually get for a room. Still thinking about it.

If you are looking for a bargain check out the Mahina Surf at Mahinasurf.com. It is a great condo complex, small, clean, great view and very reasonable. We have stayed there three times and loved each unit.

How do you get this discount? I'm very interested in the Westin.
