Statue of Liberty audio tour wothwhile?

Thinking of a short getaway to NYC, can get Statue of Liberty tickets for the dates I am looking at. Wondering if the audio tour is worthwhile or not?

Also, which time is best to reserve? Any pros and cons about entry times will be appreciated.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't see why you'd need an audio tour as the museum explains all about it creation and history.
The time of day might depend on where you're traveling from.

I really don't know where I'll be staying at present, I am still checking hotels.

Another question, is the time only for a specific ferry time and if I book a ticket in advance do I still need to stand in lines (besides the security line)?

Thanks.

Book for the earliest time you can get. The security lines grow as the day wears on. You go thru security at the docks then again at the Statue. This line was particularly SLOW, and we were there before 10 am. We had the audio tour and it gave us something to do as we waited.

I can get 8 am tickets, but I'm certain I won't be out of bed at 8 am. I'll look at other times available times.

Get the specific ferry times. There are even longer lines for those without timed tickets.
You'll go through security twice, once before boarding the ferry and a second one if you wish to enter the Statue.

Book the earliest time you can to minimize lines - the later in the day the longer the lines. If you have tickets in advance you still have the security line for the ferry (park service recos allowing 45 minutes) then another line on the island to get into the Statue.
